Job Description:
At Syngenta, we are working to build the most collaborative and trusted team in agriculture that provides leading seeds innovations to enhance the prosperity of farmers. The Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Augmented Reality Expert supports the delivery of the strategy & direction for AI, Machine Learning and Imaging Processing in the Digital and Automation Technology Team in support of Seeds Development. This role will demonstrate expertise in the AI and Augmented Reality, Machine learning and Imaging processing area as well as collaboratively working across global, cross cultural, functional matrices. They will also champion evaluate, build and support deployment of standard, scalable, fit for purpose solutions while, keeping pace with technology cycles delivering productivity gains.
Responsibilities:
- Influence and implement digital & technology strategies and projects closely working with the Pipeline Enablement and Field Crop teams that is comprehensive on methodology and landscape with a clear implementation plan
- Identification of PoC targets to meet the business requirements and supporting the regional technology teams on PoC and scale-up projects
- Actively scout for relevant technologies, be abreast with external innovation, through leadership in their areas of accountability
- Interact with Computational Sciences and IT (plus any other related functions) to develop and align on mid- and long-term business plans, technology process ownership and excellence in their implementation and delivery.
- Support a global framework that enables rapid upscaling / introduction of new software and technologies into the operations of the Continuous Nurseries, Seed Processing and Field Crops that is adapted to local needs
- Continuously improve and innovate the delivery of Technologies, including improvements in HSE, cost-effectiveness, speed, accuracy and reliability working closely with operations team, assessing evolving needs.
- Support in building organizational capability embedded in front end organizations by creating a learning environment that ensures relevant employees have the skills sets to deploy new technology introductions.
Requirements:
- Masters or PhD in Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering or other subject relating to AI and Augmented Reality
- Hands-on experience in working with ML problems, e.g, Classification, Regression, Anomaly Detection
- Experience in the use of Image Recognition/Augmented Reality/AI in process environments
- Experience of having worked in teams in the area of digital innovation with an understanding of the cultural and motivational drivers for these types of teams.
- Demonstrated experience and skills in managing projects and stakeholders in a large matrixed organization
- Coding delivery of algorithm and/or end to end IT tools
- Experience of R&D workflows and operations
- Agile project management experience would be a strong plus
- Working knowledge of processes involved in a Research or Breeding environment would be beneficial
- Individual must be authorized to work in the United States for Syngenta without work authorization sponsorship now or in the future
