Our proof of concept was focused on the interiors space where we acquired ~100k users and 6 million photos while testing various revenue models. We are now focused on expanding the platform to include a broad range of users and experiences with the potential to inspire or inform improvements in the lives of users with relevant backgrounds and interests.

Job Description:

Moro is looking for a seasoned technology expert to lead product architecture and development for a visual discovery and marketplace platform. You'll be responsible for developing and leading teams’ developers and engineers across a variety of increasingly challenging projects. You must be comfortable getting your hands dirty with active coding. Your main responsibility will be leading development across multiple projects with small teams of programmers. As a CTO, you'll be analyzing business and creative requirements to determine the technical approach for projects while working directly with developers to execute the given challenge. You'll be expected to understand and use the latest frameworks and technologies and provide assistance and mentorship to juniors on the team. On larger and more technically complex project components, you'll work with the Lead Developer to ensure development is considerate of the technical approach and that all aspects of the project - such as security, performance, usability, and aesthetics - are upheld to our standards. On smaller components of projects, you'll lead the actual development with a Junior or Intermediate developer, laying the groundwork and providing code reviews to monitor progress.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategize with other senior leaders to drive initiatives forward
  • Serves as lead architect, executing architecture reviews for all products
  • Empower the engineering team
  • Recruit, hire and mentor the engineering team
  • Help implement, manage and expand on roadmap initiatives across iOS, Android, Web, Operations and Partnerships
  • Manage the product development lifecycle from ideation to launch and beyond
  • Design and establish processes for predictability and on-time delivery against the product roadmap
  • Develop and manage product testing strategies to help product make informed decisions with quantitative and qualitative data
  • Define KPIs to measure success and failure of product initiatives
  • Balance multiple business priorities with engineering team needs
  • Build relationships across company teams to understand various technological needs
  • Anticipate change in product requirements and be able to create alternative scopes and processes to fit team resource scenarios, budgets, deadlines
  • Identify, plan for and communicate technical risk factors and roadblocks between engineering and the rest of the company
  • Analyze and understand emerging technologies (AI, DM, AR, etc.) and identify opportunities to leverage innovative technologies for the organization.
  • Shape the entire technology stack, including backend database, e-com platform, API’s, etc.
  • Develop and oversee IT procedures and operations
  • Perform regular security monitoring to identify intrusions
  • Responsible for developing the team structure, defining roles and associated responsibilities; hiring and retaining the appropriate talent to deliver against the product development goals
  • Remains sensitive to and skilled at delivering work on-time and on-budget; keeps leadership team informed; anticipates and communicates potential schedule or budget issues in advance and helps revise project approach
  • Works collaboratively with product management and product marketing to ensure customer product objectives are meet

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of UI/UX/product management experience with a particular focus on user interaction overseeing the design, development, and launch of successful consumer internet - products
  • A demonstrated track record of developing an outstanding experience for digital commerce
  • Experience implementing process and managing design and development teams
  • Excellent personal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Comfortable using tools like GitHub, inVision, Sketch, SQL to review and talk about design, code, and data
  • Familiarity with the pros and cons of the latest web and mobile development technologies, libraries, and frameworks
  • Ability to set and meet deadlines and to manage development/production staff to ensure that projects remain on schedule and within budget
  • Willingness to roll up sleeves and "do whatever it takes" - attention to detail
  • Must be available and willing to work extended hours as occasionally needed (during crunch times!) per day or per week, including weekends and holidays, to meet business needs
