Facebook's mission is to give people the power to build community and bring the world closer together. Through our family of apps and services, we're building a different kind of company that connects billions of people around the world, gives them ways to share what matters most to them, and helps bring people closer together. Whether we're creating new products or helping a small business expand its reach, people at Facebook are builders at heart. Our global teams are constantly iterating, solving problems, and working together to empower people around the world to build community and connect in meaningful ways. Together, we can help people build stronger communities — we're just getting started.
We are a group of computer vision researchers and engineers, within the Facebook AI Applied Research (FAIAR) organization, focusing on building technology that understands visual content and then democratizing it via vertical products spanning our family of apps. We're starting a new vertical team to focus on AR - especially as the company starts investing in new hardware like AR glasses.
In this role, you will be working as a Research Scientist on developing experiments and prototypes at the frontier of AI Research for AR. In particular, we believe users will interact with our hardware via various multi-modal sensors. So, it is important for us to be able to invest in horizontal AI services and techniques that not just understand the world, but also are personalized to the user. This would include experimenting around AR user's visual memory (think "my objects"), egocentric understanding of the user (think egocentric activity recognition), personalization building blocks (like modeling knowledge graph of a user) that continuously learn (think incremental learning) with limited data (think low-shot setting). The team works very closely with the extended AR organization to take our state-of-the-art published ideas and helps deploy it at scale with all the practical considerations around efficiency and user-experience.

We’re focused on ensuring water quality for people around the world by making water analysis better – faster, simpler, greener and more informative. In 1933, Dr. Bruno Lange founded his company in Berlin, Germany with a vision of making water analysis simpler. His innovation in water analysis led to breakthroughs in laboratory testing and allowed people without backgrounds in chemistry to run and understand various tests. In 1947, Clifford and Kitty Hach were also reinventing water analysis in Ames, Iowa. Armed with an advanced understanding of analytical chemistry and a passion to make a difference, the founders set out to simplify water analysis. Clifford and Kitty were determined to make water analysis better so customers could get to their results faster, more easily, and with more information. With such similar passions for clear and simple water analysis, the two companies became one under the Danaher Life Sciences Group. Today, everything Hach does is still focused on the goal to help customers manage water across the globe. Since our founding we have led the industry in developing innovative solutions to help our customers analyze their water more efficiently and more effectively. Hach products can be found around the globe in a wide range of lab, field, and in-process uses in municipal and industrial facilities. Hach analytics solutions are designed to give operators and managers confidence in the many decisions they make to ensure compliance, improve energy efficiency, and reduce waste in production, product quality, and utilities management. We provide the best-in-class products, industry leading experts, and local support to help our customers manage their water. Now Hach offers more products, chemistries, services, and software to help provide complete solutions. Hach has more than 12,500 different products and 525 patents being used by more than 100,000 customers around the world.
The Strategic Services team is responsible for the innovation and implementation of new Services at Hach. One area of focused innovation is leveraging Augmented Reality (AR) within our Training, Field Service, Tech Support, and Sales teams. WHERE DO WE START?
How about Kansas City? That’s our home. That’s where Garmin put a stake in the ground in 1989. We’ve grown substantially over the years, offering diverse products and global reach in 5 diverse markets. But some things won’t ever change: Our entrepreneurial spirit and a culture where everyone’s opinion matters. That’s because we believe it’s possible to light the tech world on fire and still be on a first name basis.
BIG IDEAS, SMALL EGOS
What we do best is make products that let our customers do what they love. To do that, we focus on practical innovation, never losing sight of the benefits our products bring to our customers. Sure, we love bells and whistles. What leading technology company doesn't? But we make sure ours have purpose. It’s not about the things we make. It’s about the things we make possible.
WE’RE GLOBAL, SERIOUSLY.
Yeah, we’re based in Kansas City, but we are truly a global company. With offices throughout Europe, Asia, Middle East, South America and Australia, our products are sold all over the world. One elevator ride at our headquarters and you’re likely to hear 4 (or more) different languages being spoken. At Garmin, we may act local, but we think global.
DREAM BIG. SLEEP WELL.
At Garmin, we like to encourage dreamers. But at some point it’s nice to wake up and enjoy a fully aware life. So we make it super easy to achieve a good balance between working, dreaming and enjoying life—from workout classes offered throughout the day, breaks to get out and move on our campus, and wellness programs offered throughout the year. It’s almost impossible not to take advantage of Garmin’s work-life balance opportunities.
